Haitian Earthquake

Please continue to remember the people of Haiti in your prayers. Now that the immediate horror of the tragedy is past, we will be hearing less and less news of the great need, so our prayers and material assistance will even more urgent as the news media moves on to the next event they deem urgent.
Seeing photos of people gathering for Sunday Mass near the ruins of the Cathedral in Port-au-Prince is a clear reminder of the great faith of the Haitian people. As has been reported, the Archbishop of Port-au-Prince, as well as scores of priests and seminarians, were killed in the earthquake. Just at the time when the people need their shepherds most, they are left with fewer to bring them the consolation of the Sacraments of the Church.
